UltraXML For Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) Publishing
Optionally Supported DTDs
Chemical Markup Language (CML)
CML (Chemical Markup Language) is an approach to managing molecular
information using markup languages such as XML. It is based strictly on
SGML, the most robust and widely used system for precise information
management in many areas. It has been developed over several years and has
been tested in many areas and on a variety of machines.
CML is capable of holding
extremely complex information structures and so acting as an interchange
mechanism or for archival. It interfaces easily with modern database
architectures such as relational databases or object-oriented databases.
The CML DTD specifically
supports the publication of "chemical" information.
Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishing Markup Language
STMML is an XML-based mark-up
language covering many generic aspects of scientific information. It has
been developed as a re-usable core for more specific mark-up languages. It
supports data structures, data types, metadata, scientific units and some
basic components of scientific narrative. The central means of adding
semantic information is through dictionaries. The specification is through
an XML Schema which can be used to validate STMML documents or fragments.
